Stone, wood, lime and clay: materials that last, and that the land itself provides. At Quinta do Coito Grande, buildings are restored and built with them.
Clay and lime plasters, stone walls, wooden ceilings and natural insulation give old and new houses a healthy indoor climate and a texture that only natural materials have. Experienced builders and craftspeople carry out the work, from structural repairs to the finishing layers.
Wherever possible, inorganic materials are avoided and local resources are used.
Natural building is slow and careful work. It preserves the heritage of the Alentejo while answering a very current need: houses that are healthy to live in and kind to the environment.
