Where does the wood come from, and what is it treated with? The need for honest answers to these questions is what brought a carpentry workshop to Quinta do Coito Grande.
In a large workshop at Quinta do Coito Grande, carpenters build furniture, doors, windows, roof structures and complete wooden interiors. Traditional machines and hand tools work side by side with stocks of local timber, much of it cut at the sawmill next door.
From the first sketch to the finished piece, the aim is the same: solid, functional work that honours the material and its source.
The carpenters work closely with the other craftspeople at Quinta do Coito Grande, from the forge to the builders, so that each project finds the skills it needs within a few steps.
