Every board starts as a tree. At the sawmill of Quinta do Coito Grande, logs from the region are cut with care, so that as little as possible is lost on the way from the forest to the workshop.
A mobile band sawmill turns trunks into boards, beams and slabs. Wide planks with live edges, cut from local trees, are stacked and dried here before they become tables, shelves and structural timber.
Wood that is cut and worked close to where it grows travels less and keeps its story.
The sawmill supplies the carpentry next door and the building projects at Casa dos Sonhos. It is a small link that closes the circle between land management and construction.
